What does a photo reveal?
A photo file carries more than pixels. It often holds metadata: your phone model, the date and time, camera settings, sometimes a serial number — and on mobile, the GPS coordinates of where it was taken. Invisible to the eye, readable in one click.
EXIF, XMP, IPTC, C2PA — what are they?
EXIF: device data (model, date, settings, GPS). XMP/IPTC: captions, authors, rights. C2PA / Content Credentials: a provenance signature. This tool detects all four and lets you choose what to keep.
Lossless or re-encode?
Lossless cleaning strips a JPEG's metadata without touching the pixels — quality is identical. Compression re-encodes the image to reduce its weight: it removes everything, but recompresses the pixels.
